Blessing of the Truffle Dogs
June 17 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm$120
Life’s little pleasures, one special event
If you love food, and dogs, and being in the great outdoors (and who doesn’t?), then you won’t want to miss this special event to mark the start of the Black Winter Truffle season in the Canberra region.
Rug up for a unique and memorable outdoor winter experience filled with fine food and great company, including plenty of the four-legged variety.
A short drive from Canberra, in the picturesque surrounds of Tarago Truffles, you’ll get to;
– meet the talented truffle dogs from around the region.
– join in the blessing to ensure a safe and prosperous truffle season;
– see the dogs at work and join in a live hunt for the treasured ‘black gold’; and
– enjoy a country-style lunch (with plenty of truffle)at Tarago Truffles.
The blessing will be conducted by the Rt Revd Tom Frame of Mulwaree Anglican Parish.
Ticket includes blessing ceremony, truffle hunt and lunch. Limited tickets are available, so get in quick!
We’ll be out in the paddocks, and it may be a little cold, so please note the need for sensible footwear and clothing.
In order to minimise the introduction of disease or competing fungi, you will be asked to clean soil/contaminants from the soles of your footwear before entering the Sturgiss property where the truffiere is located.
You will also be asked to ensure your jackets, hats, scarves and bags are free from possible contaminants. Before entering the truffiere you will need to step through a foot bath containing a chlorine solution similar to that used in swimming pools.
Only dogs invited by the Truffle Festival – Canberra Region organising committee will be permitted to attend the event.
